What's So Exciting About Renewables: They Power Possibility

With all of the excitement about renewable energy as a new source of "green" (as in dollars), I often forget what drew me to this practice area as a lawyer: the way that renewable energy powers possibility. Consider the case of self-taught, nineteen year old engineer William Kamkwamba, who lives in Malawi and constructed a power-generating windmill entirely on his own. Kamkwamba blogs about his windmill development and other renewable energy projects at this site.

If one windmill can change the life of a family in Malawi, imagine the eventual power of wind turbines at each home, solar panels and (for coastal communities), tidal projects and wave energy.
